I used to fight the narrow road

Pushed against the line You chose

Thought it was all just for show

Till I saw where wanderers go

Every turn You broke my curse

Kept me back from something worse

Now I see it plain and true

Your hand has brought me back to You

No more reaching for my way

No more doubt in what You say

When You move - I don’t delay

[Chorus]

Rod and staff - in Your hand

Forged for war - filled with grace

I reached for blades I don’t need

Thought my strength would carry me

But You don’t war the way we fight

You guard the weak - in the dead of night
(Ezekiel 34:22) “I will save My flock, and they will no longer be plundered” God protects the vulnerable among His people.
(John 10:12-13) The wolf attacks the flock, but the Good Shepherd does not abandon His sheep.

No shield I raised could hold the line

Till I learned to walk it right
(Galatians 5:25) “Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit” Learning to walk in alignment with the Spirit rather than self-direction.

Not my will and not my plan
